Nel de Man

I started dollmaking about 25 years ago.

The first dolls I made out of plaster, later I was very successful with making porcelain antique replica dolls.

After a while I wanted to try something new, something I could put more of my creativity in.

I started trying to create a baby-doll.

With 5 children and 6 grandchildren I had good models.

My first baby surprised a lot of people: "They look so real!" was an often heard reaction.

That stimulated me to continue making baby's.

The material I use is Modelene and Cernit, a synthetic clay.

Now I have worked for several companies like Zapf, Sigikid and Schildkroth. They have created my doll in vinyl in limited editions.

My own original creations are always one-of-a-kind, it is impossible to make two dolls exactly the same.
